Body Found in Angeles National Forest ID'd as San Pedro Woman

Detectives say the 45-year-old woman was stabbed in the throat.

Officials have identified the body of woman found on a trail on East Fork Road in the Angeles National Forest last month.

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Homicide Bureau said on Jan. 24, the body of Arela Leyva Quinones, 45, of San Pedro, was discovered by hikers with a stab wound to the throat on the forest hiking trail north of Glendora.

The location of the body was described by deputies as East Fork Road and Prairie Fork Road in the Angeles National Forest.

There are currently no suspects in custody, but detectives are following up on leads, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Detectives do not believe Quinones had any gang affiliations. They determined that she was a mother, but did not say how many children she had. Officials believe she died in the area where her body was found.
