Bicyclist Killed By Metrolink Train in Baldwin Park

Man walked under crossing gate arms as train was coming.

BALDWIN PARK (CNS) - A 49-year-old man pushing a bicycle was killed in Baldwin Park when he walked under a railroad crossing arm and was hit by a Metrolink train, a police sergeant said today.

The man was identified as Norwalk resident Carlos Jacinto DeSantiago, said Baldwin Park police Sgt. Chris Hafford.

Hafford said the crash occurred at 7:28 p.m. Friday on Ramona Boulevard and Downing Avenue. He said the train was crossing Ramona Boulevard at Downing Avenue.

DeSantiago was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:01 p.m. Friday, he said.

The Metrolink tweeted that it was Train 335 on the San Bernardino line.

So where is the train video of this evil doer going under the crossing arm? The video from surrounding businesses? Real witnesses --- not some railroad gumbas covering up? This weird configured crossing has like a dozen paths around the gates ---Why would one go to the trouble of dragging a bicycle under the gates? California law is faulty and says the gates be down 5 seconds before the train arrives. How do we get the idiots making this faulty law get in wheelchairs and demonstrate getting across this at least 40 seconds needed intersection?

This is a very dangerous intersection. And too would like to see video from local businesses or even the City. I am sure someone out there has it.
