A Glendora resident will pay the price for attempting to rob a bank after the bank was closed.

He came away with no money and is now being held on $100,000 bail.

Detectives pulled over and arrested Christopher Faraj, 28, as Faraj drove north on Grand Avenue.

The incident began when the suspect entered a Wells Fargo branch at 120 North Grand Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. He handed a note demanding money to a Wells Fargo employee, said Glendora Police Lt. Rob Lamborghini.

Lamborghini said the employee responded that the bank was closed and no money was available. The suspect then exited the bank.

Using a description of the getaway car provided by bank employees, detectives spotted a car matching the description and pulled him over.

The suspect did not attempt to flee from police, Lamborghini said.

During a search of the suspect, police found a note demanding money in his pocket. No weapon was found, said Glendora Police Sgt. Scott Strong, who is investigating the case.

Faraj is being held in a Glendora jail. He will be arraigned at the West Covina courthouse on Friday.
