Authorities Close Glendora Mountain Road Due To Fire Danger

Officials with the United States Forestry Service erred on the side of caution and have closed Glendora Mountain Road due to recent red flag warnings, Glendora Police said Monday.

The closure, will last from Monday, Jan. 13 to Thursday, Jan. 16, said Glendora Police Chief Tim Staab.

A red flag warning is in effect starting late tonight through Wednesday for much of Los Angeles county due to moderate to strong Santa Ana winds and very low humidities, according to the National Weather Service.

Due to the combination of moderate to strong Santa Ana winds, very low relative humidity and warm temperatures, a widespread and extended period of critical fire weather conditions are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The strongest surge of Santa Ana winds are expected to occur Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. Northeast winds will be gusting to between 50 and 60 miles per hour in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service.
