Glendora Police Responds to Azusa Shooting

Glendora police responded to Wednesday's Azusa shooting when a witness told police the incident happened at a local Denny's.

A shooting late Wednesday night that left a man with a gunshot wound to the stomach took place in an unincorporated area of Azusa, and not in a Glendora restaurant where it was originally thought to have taken place.

Glendora police responded at and met with a woman companion of the wounded man. The companion told police that the shooting took place at in the 500 block of West Baseline Road.

Glendora Police responded to the restaurant, but determined the shooting did not take place there.

According to a LA County Sheriff’s Department-San Dimas report, the woman companion later admitted it happened in the 5600 block of Viceroy Avenue in unincorporated Azusa. Also, the Sheriff’s Department received a call at 10:30 p.m. from a resident who reported hearing gunshots on Viceroy Avenue.

Sheriff’s Lt. Craig Boyett said the shooting may have resulted from an argument between two men over a woman. The wounded man is in stable, but serious condition.

Boyett said he could offer no further details at this time.

Go, go GPD. It is nice to be appreciated, but even better when someone acknowledges it.
