Driver Dies After Car Chase That Started in Arcadia

A suspect in a high speed chase drove east on the 210 freeway and died after his car 'exploded' when it struck a freeway pillar, officers said.

Authorities are still trying to identify the driver of a Corvette who died in a fatal car crash after leading the CHP on a chase that started at the Baldwin Avenue on-ramp in Arcadia early Wednesday morning.

The fatal crash happened near the 330 Freeway interchange in San Bernardino County around 4:30 a.m, according to Officer Leon Lopez of the CHP.

The body has not yet been identified due to the severity of the injuries sustained after the car lost control for unknown reasons, crashed and exploded into flames after hitting a pillar, according to Lopez.

The chase began at 4:07 a.m. when the driver of the Corvette entered the 210 freeway at the Baldwin Avenue on-ramp, which had been closed for construction. The driver was seen by California Highway Patrol officers maneuvering around barriers. Officers pursued the driver after he failed to yield, Lopez said.

The suspect drove in excess of 100 miles per hour as he entered the San Bernardino area and eventually crashed and died. The chase ended just before 4:30 a.m.

An investigation team is still working to identify the body and identify the owner of the vehicle. It is not known why the driver went around the barriers, Lopez said.

I interjected the 84 because the original posting to which I was responding had to do with the fact that we were going to hell in a hand basket. There was a general wailing that everything was going wrong in America and that part of that tied to an organizatio that had ties to the Black community. Another poster made an inane comment about the segment of the population that might have benefited with the money that was thrown out the window. My point was that these hate based things are not endemic to one segment of the populace. If we're going to hell in a hand basket (I do not agree), then there are lot of people who have oars and are steering us in that direction. Whether you agree with SPLC or not, there are hate based organizations a plenty. Whether you agree with those who perpetuate hate or not because you do not believe in the cause that is being attacked or not does not negate the hate.

David, why don't you contact the editor of the Monrovia Patch and ask him who pulled them. One remark was made by the central moderator. At that point, I removed all postings affixed to my name in that thread. I contacted Nathan because, for a period of time they were still in evidence on the server, and I wanted them removed. You do not know what in the world you are talking about. As for what I do for the community, I am proud of my accomplishments. It's not bragging, it is statement of fact. How do you help the community, David? Do you do anything except look to slam? Gee, could you be jealous?
