UPDATED: Apt. Fire Forces Evacuations, No injuries Reported
Lots of smoke, no flames reported by police on the ground. Cause unknown.
UPDATE, 9:30 p.m.: Authorities reveal the cause of the evacuation of an apartment complex in the 200 block of East Route 66 and response by LA County Fire as that of a burning dinner. Lots of smoke was produced, but no serious damage was reported, said Lieutenant James DeMond.
PREVIOUSLY: An apartment complex was evacuated this evening after a fair amount of smoke was reported coming from one of the units.
Police were called to an apartment complex in the 200 block of East Route 66 at 6:54 p.m. to a reported fire. Glendora Police arrived to find no visible flames coming from the unit, but a lot of smoke billowing from the apartment, according to scanner reports. Officers also helped conduct traffic control on Route 66.
The single-story apartment complex was quickly evacuated as Los Angeles County Fire personnel arrived and worked on the apartment unit. No serious damage was reported, according to scanner reports.
Cause of the fire is not known at this time. No injuries were reported at time of publication.
