Alert Citizen Helps Police Nab Burglary Suspects

Suspicious activity in the In-N-Out parking lot leads to the arrest of three teens suspected in an Azusa burglary.

Three teens were arrested in Glendora Tuesday in connection with an Azusa burglary after an alert driver noticed the three acting suspicious at In-N-Out.

Arrested were Brian Ibarra, 18, from Anaheim, and two 17-year-old boys, a Santa Ana resident and Anaheim resident, on suspicion of residential burglary and receiving stolen property. Ibarra was held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Police were called to the Marketplace around noon by a citizen who drove by and saw the three teens in a car parked at, 1261 S. Lone Hill Avenue, going through what looked like women's purses, said Lt. Jamie Caldwell of Glendora PD. When police arrived they detained the suspects and verified they were in possession of items taken from a residential burglary in the 1100 block of N. Pasadena Avenue in Azusa.

"Fortunately for us we had a person who saw this and she had the frame of mind to call us. This actually worked out really good," Caldwell said.

The residential burglary was so fresh, Azusa Police did not know of its occurrence until Glendora Police notified them.

"Azusa PD was contacted, they verified there was in fact a burglary that had occurred," Caldwell said.

All of the property was recovered, police said.

Ibarra is set to appear at West Covina Superior Court Thursday, while the teens were released to their parents with written promises to appear in juvenile court.
