Interested in volunteering, giving or interning with a great local charity? GreatNonprofits.org released its first ever list of top-rated nonprofits in Glendora, which Patch.com readers can use to discover top-rated nonprofits to give or work with on issues they care about.

“Local giving and volunteering has exploded in recent years,” says Perla Ni, the CEO of GreatNonprofits, which published the list. GreatNonprofits is the leading site for nonprofit reviews by volunteers, donors, and clients alike. “Like Shop local, eat local, people now want to get involved with local nonprofits. People are increasingly interested in making meaningful connections in their own neighborhoods and communities.

The full list top-rated nonprofits around Glendora, which users can explore by issue and average rating, is available at:

The list of 84 top-rated nonprofits in the Glendora area offers a wide variety of organizations.

If your favorite nonprofit isn’t on the list, you can help add to this community resource and help others discover great local nonprofits by writing and posting a review on GreatNonprofits.org.  Not only does this provide useful feedback for organizations, which they can use for self-assessment and improvement, but it serves as compelling evidence about their work, which they can show to donors.

It is also a great way to find out about volunteer, internship, and job opportunities at local nonprofits.

“It’s so rewarding for people to discover on-the-ground, maybe lesser-known nonprofits doing great work in their own communities,” said Ni. “Getting involved, volunteering or interning with local nonprofits can be a terrific experience, because nonprofits need and appreciate the help. You can get substantive responsibilities and hone real-world skills. And you'll be able to make a difference and see it in your own community!"

The full list over 1 million nonprofits, which users can explore using zip code, issue, and rating filters, is available at http://greatnonprofits.org/.

Dear Mary, Thanks for taking a closer look at the list and letting me know about those organizations. The GreatNonprofits methodology is built on the principle that the most qualified people to vet nonprofits aren't our team, but the community members who live and work with their local nonprofits. We depend on user reviews for information about nonprofits, the same way that Tripadvisor.com does for travel advice. It is our experience that user-generated reviews speak best to a nonprofit's effectiveness. If one of your favorite nonprofits is missing from our site, there are a few ways to fix that. You can either email support@greatnonprofits.org and we'll make a page for them, or you can go on GreatNonprofits.org, create an account, and click "add a nonprofit" to do it yourself. Please feel free to reach out to me or to support@greatnonprofits.org if you have any further questions. Best, Elizabeth
