WWII Veteran Earns Honorary Degree From Bonita High School
The La Verne native celebrated his 91st birthday Monday with a special gift from the school district.
Seventy-four years after he left Bonita High School without earning his diploma, La Verne-born Joe Carmona Mora, a World War II veteran earned an honorary Bonita High School degree on his 91st birthday Monday.
The veteran, who earned his GED diploma from Glendora High School after dropping out of Bonita in 1939, celebrated his birthday with much fanfare at Marchant Park in San Dimas. The party included the Patriot Guard Riders and members of the Bonita Unified School District and La Verne Chamber of Commerce.
