Rain to Clear By Weekend’s End

Warmer temperatures expected by mid-week next week.

Much of southern California had been soaked with scattered showers this week and the trend is expected to continue through the weekend.

Still, weekend rain should not be as severe as Thursday’s storm, which drenched the foothills and mountain region in up to two inches of rain, according to National Weather Service Spokesman Bill Hoffer.

Friday should see showers throughout the day with a high of 61 degrees. Saturday should see morning showers after 11 a.m., with the rain to subside by Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service Web site.

Sunday should begin a warming trend, with some sunshine and a high of 64 degrees.

“Next week, we should see some nice weather as the high pressure area moves in,” said Hoffer, adding that temperatures of 70 degrees and higher should hit by mid-week next week.

Hoffer said the warm and cool weather is not unusual for this time of year in Southern California.

“From late October to May is considered our rainy season, so we will see additional moisture through this season,” said Hoffer.
