Travelers Heading to US Cities For Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day is Sept. 5 and travelers are booking ahead for the last holiday weekend of the summer.

Airfare bookings to major U.S. cities during Labor Day weekend is up, according to priceline.com’s annual list of the Top 50 Labor Day destinations.

New York City’s Midtown West area topped the list for Labor Day destinations, followed by Chicago and Las Vegas.

California cities on the list included San Francisco (#7), Anaheim-Disneyland (#36), Napa (#38) and Sonoma (#41).

This has been a positive sign for economists who hope the boost in local tourism will drive tourists to restaurants, theaters and retailers.
