Shop and Do Good: eGood Offers Opportunities to Donate to Local Charities

A local app allows customers to shop and support their local businesses and charities.

A local in-store and mobile app is giving customers the option of supporting their local charity while they shop.

eGood is a Glendora-based tech company that has created a mobile app and installed in-store iPads allowing customers to donate 3 to 5 percent of their purchases to local charities, including the Foundation for Glendora Schools, the Bryan Clay Foundation and the Claremont Educational Foundation.

Every time customers check-in at participating stores using the app on their mobile devices or the in-store app, that business will donate 3 to 5 percent of the purchase to a local charity.

Founder Zack Swire called the project a “challenge” for local residents and businesses to give back to the “charities that their community cares about.”

Since the company’s soft launch earlier this year, they have help raise more than $5,000 to local charities.
