Police Blotter: Cold Case Reopens, Crashes and Hit-and-Runs

Local police activity for May 20 to May 26.

The following information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, May 20

9:39 p.m.  Police arrested John Alexander Esquer, 48, at 201 E. Arrow Hwy for disorderly conduct.  

Tuesday, May 21
 

8 a.m. A motorist escaped serious injury when his truck struck a fire hydrant and flipped over on Valley Center Drive. 

1 p.m. A Good Samaritan tackled a fleeing suspect in the 1600 block of S. Banna. 

7:59 p.m. Charles Robert Lien, 61, was arrested at 114 E. Mauna Loa on multiple DUI charges and a hit-and-run. 

Wednesday, May 22

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Division and Glendora Police Department began excavating a backyard in the 500 block of Essex Street in the search for clues in the 1978 disappearance of Wendy Byron. Investigators wrapped up their investigation Thursday evening without finding new evidence in the case

3:40 p.m. John Alexander Esquer, 48, was arrested on 600 W. Route 66 and charged with disorderly conduct. 

Thursday, May 23

1:33 a.m. Rafael Ortiz, 48, was arrested at 100 S. Barranca and charged with possession of controlled substance paraphernalia. 

2:26 a.m. Valerie Virginia Sanchez, 36, was arrested at 133 W. Route 66 and charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance. 

8 a.m. A young driver lost consciousness while at the wheel and crashed into a mobile home in the 1700 block of South Glendora Avenue. 

Friday, May 24

4:34 p.m. Thomas Michael Waskey, 52, was arrested at 451 S. Sellers St. and charged with making criminal threats, marijuana possession and receipt of stolen property. 

4:45 p.m. A motorcyclist was thrown off his bike on San Jose Drive, near Foothill Boulevard. 

Saturday, May 25
 

12:51 a.m. Mikel Andrew Debia, 23, was arrested at 451 Sellers St. and charged with receipt of known stolen property and possession of concentrated cannabis. 

1:13 a.m. Joe Richard Perez, 39, was arrested at Vermont and Route 66 and charged with a DUI. 

3:06 a.m. Brian Keith McIntyre, 18, was arrested at 900 E. Payson and charged with a DUI. Jack Williams, 63, was arrested at 805 W. Arrow Hwy. and charged with battery with serious bodily injury. 

Sunday, May 26

2 p.m. A motorcyclist sustained a broken ankle in a crash on Glendora Mountain Road at Mile Marker 7.75. 

6:44 p.m. The driver of a big rig truck was being sought following a hit-and-run with a Toyota Venza crossover vehicle on the 210 freeway, near the San Dimas Avenue exit.   

8:01 p.m. Matthew William Wade, 20, was arrested at 1950 E. Auto Centre Dr. and charged with burglary.
