On this Day in Glendora: June 6, 1911

Site selected for future school house.

Citizens came together at the Glendora Opera House Tuesday, June 6, 1911 to select a site for a future grammar school. The Glendora Gleaner reported that in a unanimous decision, the group instructed the board of trustees to reserve a location bounded by Minnehaha (now Foothill Boulevard) to the north, west by Vista Bonita, south by Carroll and east by Wabash.

The area was called an “ideal location” for its proximity to the center of the school district and the town.

The land’s soil was called a “sandy loam,” thus muddy winters and dusty summers would not be a problem for students.
