Two burglary suspects were arrested Tuesday afternoon after they were found hiding under parked vehicles at a city maintenance yard, police said.

The suspects were seen attempting to steal items from the Home Depot in Monrovia and fled when confronted by officers alerted to the theft by store employees, Monrovia Police Lt. Nels Ortlund said.

The two were also seen stealing items from a Glendora Home Depot Tuesday, according to police.

"These guys were in fact taking things...and sticking them in their pants," Ortlund said. "As soon as the suspects observed officers, they ran."

A search perimeter was set up and the suspects were found hiding under separate vehicles in the 1700 block of South Mountain Avenue, Ortlund said. One was hiding under a car, the other "wrapped himself around a rear axle of a big rig trailer," Ortlund said.

One officer sustained a minor injury during the course of the arrest and one of the suspects also suffered a minor hand wound, Ortlund said. They will each be booked on commercial burglary charges, he said.

The suspects were seen taking items from the Home Depot in Glendora Tuesday and that store alerted the Monrovia store, Ortlund said.
