Glendora to Celebrate Start of Holiday Season at Annual Holiday Stroll

Last year's celebration welcomed a record 5,000 visitors to the Glendora Village Center.

Once again, the signature “gumdrop” trees will light up with twinkle lights, and strolling carolers, old-fashioned carriage rides and merchants sharing delicious treats will return for the Glendora Village’s annual Holiday Stroll Friday, Nov. 18.

Last year, a record 5,000 people packed the Glendora Village Center for the city's annual kick-off to the holiday season.

And once again, all of the fun is free.

“Last year’s celebration attracted a record number of guests and this year will bring out even more to learn about what the Village has to offer to holiday shoppers and to those who want to enjoy a special meal at one of our outstanding restaurants,” said Gary Andrews, owner of Andrews Inc. and chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Glendora Village Business Improvement District that presents the Holiday Stroll.“We’re especially grateful for all the folks at the City who work hard to make this a beautiful experience for visitors. From the people who string the lights in the Village’s trees to the police auxiliary, they all add to the Stroll’s success year after year.”

Festivities will be held along Glendora Avenue between Foothill Boulevard and Bennett Avenue.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. when Glendora city officials light the Village’s holiday tree and introduce Santa Claus who is ready to take special requests from children. Jamie Caldwell of the Glendora Police Department will take photos of children as they visit Santa, and the photos will be posted to the City’s web site.

Glendora High School’s Tartan Royal Stewarts & Silhouettes Show Choirs will entertain visitors with holiday favorites following the tree-lighting ceremony.

Holiday Stroll visitors will enjoy food and drink as they get a jump on their gift lists at Village shops. The Azusa Pacific University Dickens Singers will sing carols throughout the Village as other musicians perform at stores and restaurants.
