Glendora to Discuss Renewing Agreement With Athens Trash

The City Council will discuss entering into a 10-year agreement as the city's primary waste management provider.

One of the items up for discussion in tonight’s city council meeting is the proposed 10-year renewal of the city’s longstanding, exclusive franchise agreement with Athens Services, the city’s primary waste management provider.

The city has had an exclusive agreement with Athens Services since 1992, but will consider extending that agreement for an additional 10 years with more services included, according to city documents.

The additional services include removal, parking lot and alley sweeping, E-Waste programs and a disabled roll-out program.

According to the city, the additional services are valued at $750,000 annually to city residents and ratepayers. The city council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 116 E. Foothill Boulevard.
