Glendora Lassie League Team Heading to Nationals

The Glendora 12-U Softball team finished second in the state championships and head to Peoria, Ariz. to compete for the national title.

The girls of Glendora’s 12-U Softball team had been working for years to get to one goal – to get the national championships. This past weekend, the team accomplished their goal by finishing second in the state championships and will represent Glendora in the national championships at the end of the month in Peoria, Ariz.

The Lassie League team of 11 and 12-year-old girls finished their season with a 21-6 record and finished strongly in the state championships, narrowly losing in the final game.

Their goal this year at nationals is to once again have a strong showing in the final rounds.

“These are a great group of girls who never quit,” said the team’s coach Rod Tilton. “They had been working on their conditioning through the summer and it paid off.”

The team is hoping to raise up to $15,000 to help pay for travel and lodging expenses as they head to national competition.
