First Day of Spring Greets with Rain

Astronomical spring began at 4:21 p.m. today, but morning has been marked with rain and high gusts throughout the southland. For Glendora residents experiencing a 10-day water conservation period, the rain may be welcomed.

While the first day of spring brought an onslaught of rain to the San Gabriel Valley, plants and lawns that would otherwise experience a 10-day dry spell are grateful.

Today is the third day of a for Glendora. Meanwhile, the rains have been severe throughout the southland and the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning Sunday morning for cities throughout the San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire, starting at 6 p.m. through late Sunday night.

The rain has already caused trouble for participants in the Los Angeles marathon, where over 200 runners were checked for mild hypothermia after the rain-soaked race, which ended at around 1 p.m.
