Excessive Heat Warning Issued for Los Angeles Mountains

The National Weather Service predicts that temperatures will reach record levels Wednesday and Thursday, making for a hot 4th of July.

The National Weather Service has extended an excessive heat warning through Thursday at 8 p.m. for Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara mountains.

A message from Los Angeles County elaborates:

“Excessive Heat conditions are forecasted to continue across the lower mountain elevations of Southwestern California through the Fourth of July. It will remain hot and humid across the mountains, especially at the lower elevations. Heat Index readings will climb between 100 and 105 degrees in many lower elevation locations each afternoon. Higher mountain elevations will also see temperatures approach record levels with temperatures well into the 80 and 90 degrees."

Glendora is predicted to reach a high of 90 degrees Wednesday and 86 degrees Thursday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

People in these hot areas are advised to keep children indoors or shaded as much as possible. Also remember that infants and young children get dehydrated very quickly.
