Armed Southland Bank Robber Still at Large

The FBI is asking for the public's help in nabbing the man dubbed the Luger Bandit.

After several bank robbery attempts throughout the Southland since January, the man dubbed the Luger Bandit is still at large and authorities are hoping a $15,000 reward will lead to an arrest.

The FBI is seeking the public’s help in tracking down the Luger Bandit, suspected of a string of Southland robberies, including a failed robbery attempt at a San Dimas bank on March 8.

Bank of America and Wells Fargo are offering a $15,000 reward to encourage someone to come forward with information that will lead to the bank robber’s arrest.

Usually masked and armed, the man is believed to have committed a robbery in Granada Hills on Jan. 3, a robbery at a Wells Fargo in Fontana on Feb. 8 and a bank heist in Mira Loma on March 12.

His most recent robbery is believed to be at a Bank of America in Corona on June 4.

During the failed attempt in at the Wells Fargo at 925 W. Arrow Highway in San Dimas, the suspect ordered the customers and employees to the ground at gunpoint. But when he discovered that there was no money to steal, he fled empty-handed.

The bandit, named after a German Luger-style weapon he is often seen brandishing, is described by witnesses as a white or Hispanic male, about 30 to 40 years old, 200 pounds and between 5 feet 8 and 6 feet tall. He is usually seen wearing a pullover hoodie, a face mask and sunglasses.
