No Holiday Lull for Glendora Real Estate

As the holidays approach, the real estate market in Glendora seems stronger than in past years.

The holiday season in Glendora is in full swing, and believe it or not, so is the local real estate market.

Many people associate the holidays with a great excuse to put off many life changes. We are all guilty of it at some point. How many of us have said we will start our diets as our New Year’s Resolution?

Home buying and selling typically comes with that same mindset. People view holidays as stressful enough without adding more big decisions and responsibility. This year, however, there have been many buyers and sellers in the real estate market that are not letting this time of year slow them down.

According to the California Regional Multiple Listing Service’s website, www.irmls.com, November home sales in the city of Glendora this year were up 5 percent from November of 2009 and 26 percent from November of 2008. With an abundance of standard, foreclosed, and short sale homes on the market, the many buyers and sellers who stayed in the game are making it a successful time of year. The fact of the matter is, sellers want to sell and buyers want to buy. So, why put off the decision when the 30- to 45-day escrow periods will take the closing into the New Year for a fresh start?

The holidays, in a great city such as Glendora , is a time for family, reflection and an overall sense of community. Therefore, if you’re selling a home, there is no better time to showcase your home than during the holidays, especially for people migrating into Glendora who may not be familiar with our close-knit community. The tree lit Downtown Village is a great indication of how our residents take pride in our city. Any street you turn down will most likely have many homes decorated with the spirit of the holidays. What a great time for someone who is interested in buying your home to view it!

However, if you’re buying a home here, you might still want to go and investigate the environment. You may anticipate the peaceful bliss that accompanies this time of year, with many neighbors walking and driving around to see all the decorations. Introduce yourself to neighbors, ask them about the area, and see how much they enjoy living here. This gives you an opportunity to find out about your potential new home, and even more so – its neighborhood.

So whether you are buying a new home or selling one, there is no time like the present. With the economy showing signs of stabilizing from the last couple of years, the bubble has burst and home prices seem close to what they should be at.

As of Dec. 2, there were approximately 171 homes for sale in Glendora , with many interested buyers calling my office every day. Interest rates remain at historic lows and are only bound to go up, which means now is a great time for buyers and sellers to accomplish their goal. As I said, sellers want to sell and buyers want to buy. That’s my Real Estate Sense. Happy Holidays!
