To help reduce the millions of pounds of e-waste collecting dust in homes and businesses, the Glendora Chamber of Commerce is hosting an electronic waste recycling collection 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 and Sunday, Jan. 20 at 131 E. Foothill Blvd.
The collection will take place in the parking lot of the Chamber’s former building, now occupied by Visiting Angels.
The collection is free to both city residents and businesses looking to dispose obsolete computers and other electronics that should not be dumped in landfills. According to studies, less than 29 percent of e-waste is currently properly recycled and constitutes one of the fastest growing segments of the country’s waste stream.
Items that can be recycled include:
- Computer monitors
- Televisions
- PC systems
- Printers
- Copiers
- Laptops
- Fax machines
- Home entertainment systems
- Cell phones
- Toner cartridges
- Car batteries
