How to Dispose of Your Christmas Tree

Tips to properly dispose of your Christmas tree.

Christmas trees across the nation will make their way to the curb in the days after Christmas. But local waste management company Athens Services offers the following tips to properly dispose of your tree.

Christmas trees are 100 percent recyclable, according to Athens Services, and the company will pick up your tree for recycling.

Athens Services will collect your tree on normal pickup days starting from the day after Christmas through the second week of January each year. But before you place your tree for pickup, you must remove stands, nails, lights, tinsel and ornaments from the tree.

If you miss the date for recycling, you must cut up your tree and place it in your yard waste container.

Normal residential trash collection is delayed by one day during holiday weeks.
