L.A. County Gas Prices Continue to Drop

Gas in Glendora comes in cheaper than the county average.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the eighth time in nine days, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.285.

The average price is 3.8 cents less than one week ago and 9.3 cents lower than one year ago, but 19.4 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

In Glendora, the lowest price of regular gas is well below the county's average. At the Arco station on Arrow Highway, regular gas is $4.09 per gallon.

The Orange County average price declined today for the eighth consecutive day after rising 33 of the previous 34 days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $4.271. It is 4.1 cents less than one week ago and 8.9 cents lower than one year ago, but 19 cents more than one month ago.

The dropping prices are the result of decreasing prices for oil and gasoline futures caused by an increase in fuel supplies stemming from increased refinery production, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
