Best Buy Shoppers Get Comfortable Ahead of Black Friday

Perched mere feet from the entrance outside Best Buy in Glendora, a group of shoppers have poised themselves to be first in line for those Black Friday deals.

San Dimas resident Zachary Patino and Michael Armenta, of La Verne, set up camp at the electronics store the night of Nov. 24. This is the third year the duo and their friends have camped outside the Glendora store and with each year they try to "one up" themselves with the creature comforts they bring to pass the time.

"The first year we did it, I didn't expect it to be as fun as it was. We ended up having such a good time, we decided every year to do it," Armenta said.

Last year, the group brought a gas generator to power their 44-inch TV and XBox. This year, they plan bring back the generator and even big speakers so they can play music, Armenta said.

Best Buy has been very accommodating with letting the group establish themselves with so many amenities, Patino said.

"This is the one we did the first year and every year, we come back to the same one. it's kind of a tradition now. It has the most stuff we want to buy," Armenta said.

Since they are usually first in line for Black Friday deals at Best Buy, family members have asked the group to purchase items for them as well.

"Last year I think I had eight or nine TVs in the back of my truck. It got a little bit ridiculous," Patino said.

Patino will mostly shop for family and purchase a laptop, television and maybe an XBox. Armenta has his heart set on dual monitors for his computer and promised his girlfriend Dre Beats headphones.

"The stuff we're buying isn't cheap. It's worth it and we're having fun in the process," Armenta said.
