EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: PD Corrals Pit Bull That Charged An Officer

Police still investigating which of the two family Pit Bulls attacked a 13-year-old girl in her father's home.

A 13-year-old girl was injured early Monday when she was attacked by one of two Pit Bulls at her father's residence, police said.

The girl received non life-threatening wounds to her torso and an arm and was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.

One officer shot the more aggressive dog in the head in self defense as it advanced on him, but the dog was still mobile and another officer was forced to hit it with his patrol car to stop it after it fled the neighborhood.

Patch was on scene about 20 minutes after officers had the dog stopped on the westbound side of East Route 66, near Lorraine Avenue.

I think it was in poor taste to show or even video this. I understand the dog was dangerous but it is still sad to see an animal hurt. No need for this to be seen by anyone other than those involved-Police for their report.

I agree with you here Sandi, the patch has posted videos that have no journalistic purpose in the past and I don't think this video adds anything to the story that photos and a well written article leaves out. Even though a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is not always worth a million.

New isn't always pretty. My two biggest fears are 1. having my vehicle break down in the fast lane (this after I avoided hitting one but watching my rear view mirror as it was hit by the car behind me doing about 80mph.) and 2. being confronted by more than one pit bull. One is enough to kill you but two really stack the odds against you. (this after having a pit bull in the family for 15 years when i was young.)

I agree, this is in poor taste. I don't dispute that the action taken was necessary, but to film the dog slowly dying in the street is, to me, disgusting. I do not feel that I learned more about the incident or gained any other insight from watching this video. The report itself was enough, the video was not needed.

The officer shot and ran over the wrong dog!! The one that attacked the girl was a newly acquired pet and was taken by animal control. The one that is lying in the street is the family's long time companion (a peaceful gentle giant). I had met the dog personally and am very sad to hear about this terrible tragedy.

I am totaly disturbed about this video! I agree that it added Nothing to the story. I am also so tired of all Pits getting a bad rap about aggressiveness. We have a pit in the our family and he is the sweetest dog ever, yes very powerful but none the less a gentle giant.. Yes care is needed at it is with all dogs, but what disturbes me is to know that it was the wrong dog that was killed... Did you really need to post this video? Oh Please!!!!

Shame on you for this video. You killed the wrong pit bull! But to show it dying in the middle of the street? That's cruel. Very cruel. I just moved to Glendora and am disturbed that a journal as this would post such a terrible image. And the police "bragging" on who shot the dog and who ran over it? Shame on you!

This is horrible!! Your video adds nothing of value to this story, and then to read that the police shot and killed the wrong animal is pouring salt in the wound! To hear the officer laughing about shooting the dog in the head is reprehensible! Shame of you, Patch!!

1) Patch should not have posted the video. It was in poor taste and added nothing of vaule to the story. Makes me think that Patch is being run by high school kids. 2) Where is it stated that the police officers killed the wrong dog? If a Pit Bull charges at anyone, I'd hope there would a cop around (or someone with a gun) to kill it. "Oh, but I have a Pit Bull named Fluffy and she wouldn't even harm a butterfly!" Ya right.

I'm the neighbor that has a special needs boy that is around the pit bull who is nothing but a lover, gentle giant. The dog has Never charged me, my husband or boys. He just sits there. They shot and killed and ran over him! The other dog was the one that bit the girl. Maybe people in this town need to get their information straight. But running over the dog? Wow... That is cruel as well as them bragging... Disgusting!
