Library Presents Summer Reading Programs

Programs offered for children of all ages. Registration is ongoing.

With summer in full swing, most children are out of school.

Need constructive ways to keep them occupied? The Glendora Public Library's got you covered.

The Summer Reading Club, offered by the and the Friends Foundation, provides reading programs for children of all ages from infants through teens. The programs are offered free of charge.


Registration has already begun and will continue to July 21.

Activities
Friends Room from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

  • Lego Mondays: Test your building powers as you create a world out of Legos.
  • Puzzler Tuesdays: Challenge your mind with puzzles for all ages.
  • Writing Wednesdays: Create your own unique stories; for writers of all ages.
  • Craft Thursdays: Let your imagination run wild with afternoon crafts.
  • Big Game Fridays: Enjoy games of giant chess, checkers or Jenga.
  • Family Saturdays: Challenge your friends and family to a variety of games.


Special Programs

  • Tuesday, June 19, 10:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. – Great Scott the Glad Scientist (Bidwell Forum).
  • Tuesday, July 10, 10:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. – Swazzle Puppeteers (Bidwell Forum).
  • Tuesday, July 24, 10:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. – Wildlife Animal Company Live Animal Show (Bidwell forum).
  • Saturday, July 28, 1:00-3:00 p.m. – End of summer party- all welcome (Bidwell Forum)


Just for Teens (grades 6 thru 12)

  • Friday, June 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m. – “Cipher & Code Night” (Main Floor).
  • An after-hours event for teens only!  You will search the library for clues that will help solve a variety of ciphers and codes. Library doors lock at 7:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 18, 3:00-4:30 p.m. - “Great Egg Drop” (Bidwell Forum).
  • Teens will package a raw egg and see if it can survive a drop off the Library’s Plaza onto the concrete below. Supplies provided.
  • Creative Writing Wednesdays, 1:00-4:00 p.m. (Friends Room).
  • Write that short story this summer! New writing prompts every week. For writers of all ages.

GPD is great! The entire force protects this great city! There are many other facets that make GODRead More run smoothly. We cannot forget about the auxiliary, the cadets... So many other folks that also make GPD as great as it is!!!

Go, go GPD. It is nice to be appreciated, but even better when someone acknowledges it.
