Transit of Venus 2012 : Video Footage of Once in Lifetime Event
Video footage of the Venus Transit from South Hills Park in Glendora.
Lasting for several hours, the planet Venus orbited directly between the sun and Earth Tuesday afternoon, causing the planet to be visible as a small dot. Such events are a rare occurance, according to NASA. Transits of Venus occur in pairs, with more than a century seperating events.
The next transits of Venus will not be seen until 2117 and 2125.
The video you see was recorded using a No. 12 welding glass to allow the event to be seen.
