Thursday Essentials: Local Offerings of Cooking, Health and Baking Classes

1. The Glendora Water Commission meets today at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 116 E. Foothill Blvd. Check out the meeting’s agenda here.

2. Interested in taking a cooking class at the Village Kitchen Shoppe? This morning’s lesson is “Chicken Under a Brick with Grilled Avocados.” All classes start at 11 a.m. and are $25, unless otherwise indicated. Go to the store’s website for future classes and dates. Call 626-914-7897 for reservations.

3. There are still some classes available at the La Fetra Senior Center. Check out Say Yes! To Life, a class offering tips for healthy living. The class is every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

4. Ever thought of baking a cake worthy of a Food Network challenge? A&J Cake and Candy Supplies offers cake and candy demos and classes. Fabulous Fondant II is a five-week class that begins tonight at 6 p.m.  The class is $45. Check out a schedule of classes on the store’s website.

5. There is an opening the City’s Investment Advisory Committee. If you are interested in being a part of the City’s decision-making on investments, you must turn in your application to the City Clerk’s Office no later than Thursday at 5 p.m.
