Three Arrested, Found Driving Reported Stolen Vehicle

Two adults and a teen were arrested at gunpoint and taken into custody.

Officers arrested three people at gunpoint Sunday night after discovering the car they were driving was reported stolen, police said.

The two adults and one teen, all Pomona residents, were arrested at gunpoint. The car they were occupying was reported stolen out of West Covina the very same day, police said.

The incident happened around 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of Bonnie Cove and Arrow Highway. An officer on patrol initiated a traffic stop on the car after reportedly observing the driver making a vehicle code violation, said Lieutenant Jamie Caldwell of Glendora Police.

The officer learned the 1998 Honda was reported stolen after running the license plate number.

Arrested was driver Marizia Carbajal, 23, Pilar Elizalde, 38, and a 16-year-old male.

Carbajal was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possessing drug paraphernalia and was held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Elizalde was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and on two outstanding warrants and was held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

The teen will most likely be transported to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, Caldwell said.

The stolen vehicle will be held for evidence and its owner will eventually be reunited with it, Caldwell said.
