Spilled Lumber Causes Traffic Nightmare For Some Freeway Drivers

Authorities had to block a portion of the 57 freeway to clean up the mess after several vehicles suffered flattened tires.

POMONA (CNS) - A spilled load of lumber flattened tires on at least eight cars on the 57 Freeway near Pomona Saturday.

The wood was in the left lanes of the northbound 57 near the Via Verde exit in San Dimas, just north of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway interchange.

CHP officers said they began getting reports of the wood at 1:12 p.m. Arriving units found 8 cars with flattened tires, being assisted by two Freeway Service Patrol trucks.

The freeway was blocked off momentarily while CHP officers cleared the wood, and all was reported clear by 2:30 p.m.
