Southland Gas Prices Rise For Fourth Day

Prices see an increase after a month of declines.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose 1.2 cents today to $3.933, the fourth consecutive increase following a 30-day streak of decreases.

The average price is 2.5 cents more than one week ago but 13.1 cents less than one month ago and 29.9 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price rose nine-tenths of a cent today to $3.902, 2.6 cents more than one week ago but 13.4 cents less than one month ago and 30.7 cents lower than it was one year ago.

The Orange County average price has increased four consecutive days after decreasing 20 times in 21 days.

The increasing pump prices follow a rise in the wholesale gasoline price which analysts attribute to record low stockpiles of gasoline stemming from a drop in production caused by both scheduled refinery repairs and unplanned unit shutdowns.
