Small Quake Rattles Upland

Residents report feeling a mild shaking, officials said.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A small earthquake shook the Inland Empire today, according to automated USGS sensors.

The 9:03 a.m. quake had a magnitude of 3.1 and was centered in the San Gabriel Mountain foothills, 4 miles noprth of Upland.

That would be 35 miles east-northeast of Los Angeles City Hall, the USGS reported.

People reported feeling weak shaking in the Pomona Valley and western Riverside and San Bernardino counties, as well  in the city of Riverside and Corona. Persons in Victorville and Long Beach also reported noticing it.
