Sept. 16, 1949: First Citrus College Building Opens

Although founded in 1915, the junior college finally gets its own separate building.

While Citrus College opened its new Tuesday, rewind back 62 years ago, and the college was just celebrating the opening of its first separate building, reported the Glendora Press.

Previously, facilities for Citrus College had been shared with Citrus Union High School. But it had become apparent that the college was growing and needed its own separate building.

Along with the building of the $400,000 facility, a larger parking lot and athletic field was built.
