Sept. 15, 1950: Citrus Industry Hits Record Week

On Sept. 15, 1950, the volume of oranges sold was at a record high, reports the Glendora Press.

It was a good week for oranges, as the volume of oranges sold the week of Sept. 15, 1950 was at a record high, according to the Glendora Press.  The numbers contrasted with the overall disappointing numbers for other fresh fruit. Shippers hoped to see better sales in the coming months.

The public was urged to purchase more fresh fruit, specifically “3,000 cars of fresh fruit” each week, to help boost sales.
