Runners Pack Streets For Fit4Fall 5K

The annual race aims to emphasize physical fitness, while collecting donations for the needy.

Rain clouds cleared in time for the 3rd Annual Bryan Clay Fit4Fall 5K, Nov. 23.

Runners young and old, short and tall took part in the run. Even runners decked in costumes ran in the race.

Clay thanked Azusa Pacific University and Chick-fil-A, some of the event's major sponsors, for their contributions at the event. Albertsons was also on hand and donated fresh fruit and other foods for runners.

Several Glendora schools competed for the fittest school title. Foothill Christian Middle School had a large presence and took home the victory. The prize for fittest school was a catered lunch for the staff, students received a kids meal coupon a cash prize and trophy, courtesy of Chick-fil-A, Clay said.

JonCarlo Nunez, a 2011 graduate of Glendora High School, had the second best time in the run.

"It was really fun. I strove to give back to the community as well. I want to come back here and run around the streets of Glendora," Nunez said.

Current Cal Poly Pomona track and field runner, Nunez dedicated this run to former Glendora High School track and field coach Don Sumner who passed away in June 2013 and a friend who passed away last year from Leukemia.
