The playing fields at Louie Pompei Sports Park are closed, officials said, to allow time for the newly planted grass seed to germinate.
The fields were officially closed Dec. 16 and will remain closed until March 1, 2014. The fields reportedly took a beating during this past year. In addition to seed germination, officials also need time to relieve soil compaction.
