Photo: Downtown Building Owner Redoes Paint Job

A building in the downtown Glendora Village has been covered in tarps, undergoing a lengthy repainting to remedy an unapproved paint job applied weeks before.

City Manager Chris Jeffers said the building off of Glendora Avenue and Foothill Boulevard had been painted without necessary approvals from the Planning Commission earlier in the summer. He said the owner was trying to address some leakage within the old building's brick facade.

However, the paint job did not follow city design standards, according to Jeffers.

"There are design standards and approvals needed within the downtown area so that we ensure the feel and look of the area is consistent," said Jeffers.

He said the new paint will be stripped from the building and a clear coat sealer will be applied to "retain the charm of the brick facade."

The project should take three to four weeks, said Jeffers.
