Local Events Raise Funds For Breast Cancer Awareness

Check out these local fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It is estimated that more than 2 million people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month and the one in 8 American women battling the disease, local events are happening this month to show support for those facing this difficult battle.

·      The Glendora High School Field Hockey team will have a donation table set up in front of N.V. Me, 146 N Glendora Ave., in the downtown Glendora Village Center Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For all donations, donors will receive a free baked goodie and 10 percent off any item at N.V. Me.

·      St. Lucy’s Volleyball Program will parricipate in the Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink National Breast Awareness Cancer Rally Thursday, Oct 18 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Lucy’s Priory, 655 W. Sierra Madre, Glendora . Before, during and after the volleyball match against Claremont High School, there will be many special events such as silent auctioning of the varsity jerseys, raffling prizes donated by local businesses, selling memory and survivor balloons, and raising awareness. Admission is free and all proceeds will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Washington D.C.
