Glendora Home Transformed Into Winter Wonderland

Glendora names winners in annual holiday home decorating contest.

Every year in December for the past three years, people have flocked to a house on Bonnie Cove Avenue, a place known in Glendora as the house where it snows.

People of all ages walk up to Glendora resident Eric Wolff’s driveway, where an overhead snow machine drops snow on a manmade Christmas village.

This year, Wolff has earned recognition from Glendora’s annual holiday home decorating contest with the Best Lawn Display award.

And it all started with a request from Wolff’s young daughter.

“She wanted to do it,” said Wolff. “We’re just blessed to be able to do this for her and for the community,”

Wolff said he enjoys watching people walk up his driveway, playing in snow made from dish soap. In each window of Wolff’s Christmas village, there’s a Christmas-inspired scene – Santa up late in his bedroom finishing his Christmas list, there’s Rudolph in his reindeer stable and Frosty the snowman in his home.

The effort to maintain such an elaborate holiday display is hours of work, and the December electric bill spikes every year, but Wolff said he will continue to put up his famous holiday decorations every year until his nine-year-old daughter gets tired of it.

“It’s only once a year, and someday, she won’t want to do it anymore,” said Wolff. "Until then, we’ll have fun with it.”

Wolff said he will leave up his holiday display until the first of January.

Go, go GPD. It is nice to be appreciated, but even better when someone acknowledges it.
