Glendora Christmas Parade Coming Dec. 14

The Glendora Christmas Parade is coming Dec. 14 and will honor the memory of a man whose imagination was further unleashed in Glendora.

The Parade is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start and will begin at Glendora and Bennett avenues.

The Grand Marshall for the parade will be that green and larger-than-life character, Gumby, with special guests Joe and Joan Rock Clokey, the son and daughter-in-law of Gumby creator, Art Clokey.

Art Clokey began filing Gumby cartoons in 1955. Clokey continued to film the show after moving to a larger facility in Glendora in 1960. The show would continue to be filmed in town into the late 1970s when the facility was closed, according to gumbyworld.com.

Other honorees for the parade will include Citizen of the Year Thom Hill, Glendora Community Heroes Chuck and Trish Gomer, Youth Community Hero Jake Petersen and Senior Community Hero Orv Mestad and more.

The parade will have more than 100 participants, including the Glendora High School Tartan band and Pageantry and the Glendora Police Department Honor Guard.
