The employees donated money to 114 Southland nonprofits, with San Dimas Search and Rescue receiving $30,000.

Disneyland employees are donating $820,000 to 114 Southland nonprofits, it was announced today.

The employees give the money through one-time gifts and regular payroll deductions. Donors to the VoluntEARS Community Fund may nominate a recipient for a grant of up to $5,000.

To honor the 30th anniversary of Disney VoluntEARS, 10 of the organizations receiving donations got an additional $25,000.

One of the lucky organizations receiving the extra $25,000 was the Esperanza Entertainment Unit at Esperanza High School in Anaheim, which will put the money toward new uniforms for its marching band.

"With this grant, we can focus less on fundraising efforts and more on musical education that shape these musicians into talented members of our Anaheim community," said Esperanza High's band director, Brad Davis.
