Comparing Glendora's Grocery Stores

A comparison of local places to shop for groceries.

Grocery Shopping. That sometimes dreaded chore can be made a lot easier by using the right store.

Some people choose their grocery stores by proximity; some follow the coupon trail and others go wherever the wind takes them.

To aid in that decision I have rounded up names of Glendora's grocery stores and listed them here with helpful information, including reviews, locations and where you can find the best deals.

Happy shopping.

Grocery stores are listed alphabetically.

Location: 133 West Route 66, Glendora

Prices: $$.

Why shop there? -- Albertson's has a large selection of everything from cosmetics and magazines, to produce and even rare items like uncooked tortillas.

Reviews: Albertson's is favorably reviewd on Yelp with an average of three out of five stars. Most of the reviewers like the cleanliness of the store and the specialty items from their large deli and bakery.

Location: 655 S. Grand Avenue, Glendora

Prices: $$

Why shop there?: Shop there for the wide aisles that make things easily accessible and the friendly staff.

Reviews: Ralphs received mixed reviews, from people singing its praises to some very disgruntled customers. One of the largest complaints from reviewers is how large the inventory is compared to the amount of shoppers. Beware of buying expired food.

Location: 1301 Lone Hill Drive, Glendora

Prices: $$

Why go there?: If you need to buy in bulk this is the place in Glendora to go. They also usually have the cheapest gas in town.

Reviews: Reviews for this Sam's Club are mixed. Some of the staff has been criticized and its messy, disorganized appearance is a common complaint. However people like the product selection and the prices. To shop at Sam's Club you must be a member.

Location: 1830 E. Rte. 66, Glendora

Prices: $$

Why shop there?: Go for the deals. Stater Bros. can't be beat for its deals.

Reviews: Stater Bros. is favorably reviewed with highest marks going for its sale items and the store's cleanliness. Some complaints include the amount of people who shop there (store is often crowded) and the lack of specialty items.

Location: 435 W. Foothill Blvd., Glendora

Prices: $$

Why shop there?: Great specialty items and pre-sliced deli items readily available.

Reviews: Of all the grocery stores Vons is the most favorably reviewed. Reviewers raved about the friendly and knowledgeable staff as well as their great fresh items and their deli.

Some of these stores have mulitple locations in Glendora. If we missed your favorite we would like to hear about it.

Interesting observations and comments. I shop at Stater Bros. most often since it's closest and prices are good. Their produce is often poor quality and often when I shop (before 8 am....no crowds!) there's often absolutely NO prepackaged ground round and that will send me to Albertsons where the Deli and bakery items ARE excellent and the meat is readily available. Vons, for me, is okay but their prices are a little high. Ralphs is too big and I can never find anything in there. I get a few things at Sam's Club but since I have only two people in the house, bulk purchases don't work well. I really wish they'd open the Fresh and Easy!

I'd prefer Staters b/c the pricing is better. I like Vons for it's large variety in deli and such.. the biggest problem I have with Staters is that if you go at 4pm or later, there is normally only one register open and I always get stuck behind several ppl with a cartful and I have 2-3 items :) I wish it was a bigger store (lone hill/66) with more variety.. Its good to run into on way home from work. I agree with Mav about Ralphs I get lost in there.

Vons on Grand and Foothill is my favorite. Very convenient to home and office and the sales are great

@maturemaverick. I thought there was a Fresh and Easy in Azusa in the Citrus Crossing shopping center, and another one in Glendora on Grand Ave near Gladstone. Am I mistaken?

Yes, Sandra...I've been waiting for the one on Grand to open but to my knowledge, it's not open yet.
