Much needed repairs to sidewalks will soon be coming to Glendora after the City Council approved a street and rehabilitation project Jan. 14.

The Citywide Sidewalk and Street Rehabilitation Plan will bring improvements to 26 locations throughout the city. Work done will remove and replace areas of lifted sidewalk and will remove and reconstruct curb ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, city officials said.

The City Council voted unanimously for the project.

A bidding process was opened December 5, 2013. Sylmar-based FS Construction submitted the lowest bid, at $129,136.40.

With a 10 percent contingency added for unforeseen events, the total project will be $142,050.04, with additional funds coming from Transportation Development Act funds and Community Development Block Grant funds, according to city documents.

Work would begin within 30 days of approval by the City Council.
