Authorities Search for Arrestee Who Left Police Station

It is not specified how the arrestee was able to leave the station. Police are still in the area searching for the man.

Officers spent over an hour searching for a man who somehow was able to leave the Glendora Police station and elude authorities during a large search.

Police began searching for the suspect around 12:45 p.m. The man was seen leaving the rear of the police station on foot. Officers learned the suspect was seen running through the construction zone near Glendora and Ada avenues towards Albertsons, according to scanner reports.

An area business reported seeing the suspect walking in a southern direction across Route 66 towards South Santa Fe Avenue, according to scanner reports.

Glendora Police, with the assistance of Azusa officers and a helicopter, searched a large area for the suspect. Whitcomb HS was reportedly on lockdown, but eventually let students out of the school, police said.

It was unclear when, or why the man was arrested. He was reportedly arrested near Glendora Continental, 316 West Route 66.

Police ended the containment area around 2 p.m. after an unsuccessful search.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic male. He wore a black tank top, black shorts and carried a black leather jacket. The subject was unshaven and sported a rather large afro, according to scanner reports.

Police were unavailable to answer phone calls about the search.
