Aug. 8, 1984: Law Orders City to Pay Lawyer $900,000

When Glendora redevelopment officials gave up a condemnation attempt, it cost the city's redevelopment agency nearly $1 million.

When Glendora’s redevelopment agency gave up eminent domain proceedings on a property in 1979, the law held the agency responsible for the attorney’s fees, according to the Glendora Press in it’s Aug. 8, 1984 edition.

The attorney, Herb Hafif put that price at $750,000. Redevelopment Agency Attorney Richard Huxtable contended that the fees should have been $30,000 to $40,000. A Pomona Superior Court Judge awarded Hafif $672,996, plus added interest. The case held Glendora’s Redevelopment Agency accountable for $900,000.
