Aug. 26, 1962: Rifle-Wielding Pair Robs Liquor Store

Two young men rob a local liquor store at gunpoint, according to the Aug. 26, 1962 edition of the Glendora Press.

Two men, approximately 16 to 18 years old, robbed Roy’s Liquor Store at 1301 E. Alosta Ave. with a rifle, according to the Aug. 26, 1962 edition of the Glendora Press.

The pair terrorized the store clerk with the gun until he handed over an unknown amount of cash. The robbers also threatened to shoot the storeowners’ dog who barked as the robbery took place, the newspaper reported.

The two robbers sped off onto Route 66 (then Alosta Avenue).
