Aug. 25: Citizen's Academy, Low-Income Senior Food Distribution and Homebuyer Workshop

1) The Glendora Police Department is now accepting applications for class #23 of its Citizen's Academy. The class will give citizen's an inside look at the operations of the police department including the K9 unit, traffic stops, radar use and much more. To download your application see here.

2) had been selected by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank as a monthly food distribution site for low-income individuals aged 60 and over. Certain restrictions apply. To find out if you qualify see the press release here or call the La Fetra Center at 626-914-8235. The first distribution date will be Aug. 30.

3) Storytime at will take place at 10:30 a.m.

4) The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather warning for the San Gabriel Valley. High heat is expected tomorrow with temperatures reaching triple digits. Residents are warned to take proper precautions to stay safe and cool and to remember never to leave a child or animal in an unattended vehicle.

5) is offering a free hombuyer workshop at 6:30 p.m. Participants will get free information on the value of home buying, transitioning from a renter to a buyer and initial credit reviews. For more information
